Securing National Telecom Infrastructure

Enterprise Smart Key Management & Access Control System for EDOTCO Group (Axiata Conglomerate)

Erasing security blind spots, preventing high-value asset theft, and securing infrastructure resource revenues through dynamic real-time tokenized access control ecosystems.

1. The Challenge (Massive Security Risks & Audit Blackouts across 26,000+ Towers)

EDOTCO operates over 26,000 decentralized BTS (Base Transceiver Station) towers across Bangladesh, leasing space to multiple major telecom operators. Managing physical access to these critical, high-value infrastructures presented an operational nightmare:

  • The Key Chaos: The ecosystem relied on physical, analog keys and software-configurable digital keys scattered across regional zones, with zero automated audit logs.
  • The Security Threat: Valuable telecom equipment faced high risks of theft. Accessing historical logs of who entered a BTS room, when they entered, and whether they returned the key on time was a slow, manual paperwork-driven audit process.
  • Landlord Disconnect: Remote land/rooftop owners had no prior visibility into when technicians were arriving, leading to coordination friction and safety threats.

2. The Solution (The Connected Key & Infrastructure Security Ecosystem)

Aqa Technology architected and built a comprehensive Enterprise Web & Mobile Access Control Platform adopted by EDOTCO and all major telecom operators sharing the infrastructure.

  • Mobile-First Key Requisition: Technicians could request real-time access to specific BTS towers based on active work orders directly through the secure mobile app.
  • OTP-Enabled Smart Access & Dynamic Expiry: Developed a secure layer where technicians generated an OTP at the tower site to enable digital keys. To prevent key hoarding, software-configurable digital keys were programmed to automatically self-invalidate once the allocated time duration expired.
  • Real-time Access Logs & Alarms: The system tracked precise check-in and check-out timestamps, building an unalterable, automated audit log of every entry. Automated alerts were triggered for unreturned analog keys.
  • Landowner Notification & Lease Tracking Network: Integrated asset landlords into the application, sending them automated SMS/App notifications of technician arrivals for instant verification. Additionally, the system tracked landlord land-lease expiration dates and sent proactive renewal alerts to EDOTCO management.

3. The Results (The Business Value Delivered)

The connected access infrastructure converted physical operational vulnerabilities into an enterprise-grade secure layer:

  • 100% Infrastructure Accountability: Erased security blind spots by turning a 26,000-tower manual process into a real-time, fully audited access ecosystem, drastically dropping theft liabilities.
  • Guaranteed Revenue Assurance: Allowed EDOTCO to dynamically track exactly how much and how long external telecom operators were utilizing their specific station resources, securing lease revenues.
  • Advanced Asset Security: Secured sensitive regional telecom infrastructure from unauthorized field access while drastically shortening the technician entry-approval cycle from days to minutes.
